ASTRA: A powerful and efficient software platform for plasma discharge simulation

Product Overview

ASTRA uses particle-in-cell Monte Carlo collision (PIC-MCC) method to self-consistently simulate plasma discharges. ASTRA can be used to simulate almost all low-temperature plasma discharges, such as sputtering, PECVD, ion sources, microplasma, and much more. ASTRA integrates innovative algorithms that overcome the essential limitations of lengthy computation time in the legacy PIC-MCC software. It allows the users to simulate plasma discharges at the industrial scale within a short time while maintaining the capability to study the details of plasma characteristics.

Product Features

·       User-friendly interface that allows researchers with a basic knowledge of plasma physics to use the software and gain a fundamental understanding of plasma discharges. A graphic setup allows users to easily define complex boundaries and objects in the plasma region.

·       Powerful diagnosis functions that allow users to extract all the particle and plasma characteristics. Typical parameters that can be deduced include plasma potential, electron density, ion density, electric field, electron and ion fluxes in xyz directions, particle pressure, momentum loss, ionization rate, power absorption distribution, ion energy and direction striking a surface, and much more.

·       A cloud computation platform that hosts ASTRA. This approach reduces the burden on users to install and maintain the software. The users only need an office computer to access the server that runs the simulations and instantly receive the simulation results.

·       Cost-effective options for routine and infrequent users.
